Not smart - just lucky. Even once I knew it was there it would slip my mind some mornings. However, you'd either see cars bounce through it or they
would move over. I bet a lot of people had damage they didn't report. Glad you followed it up and good to know it is 'relatively' easy.

"I fell into a huge pothole on River Rd last month, going up the hill toward Three Chopt from the Huguenot Bridge. "
Watch out at about the same spot but going downhill. Spotted some small but deep ones at this spot tonight.

Pretty sure that's the one a buddy ran through the other day in his '09 Jetta TDI. Popped two tires, bent one or two wheels.

64 West first Parham Rd. exit (North I think) center lane it's a pot hole with a chunk or road sticking up out of it. Nailed it.

Sorry they're kicking your ass, Ronnie.
Here's what I do and recommend if at all possible:
Leave a huge gap in front of your car before the next vehicle (intentional exaggeration of "no tailgating"). Only drive during daylight and in dry
clear weather. Keep your windshield perfectly clear/squeaky clean.
Scan the road aggressively for anything that remotely looks like a pothole while also being super attentive to maintaining a clear lane to at least
one if not both sides. Drive outside the normal "tire ruts" to improve your odds for dodging. Look for telltale debris that is created from an
active pothole (looks like road crumbs on the shoulder).
This is the only way to be offensively defensive.

Thanks very good advice. I couldn't tell you the last time I left work while it was still light out side. I'm lucky to get out of there before
midnight.
It's hard to eat, drink and text while driving and now I have to pay attention to the road too? I'M JOKING.
I was changing lanes from the center to left lane and a guy was flying up on me so I moved back to the center lane to avoid conflict and there it was.
I roll tall tires. It's more for you guys who have lots invested in tires and wheels. I have steelies and don't care too much. a hammer can fix them.
Just sucks to hit pot holes.
